Development

Future eTreasure’s developments regard community building, learning promotion, time and attention management and location based service enhancement.

The building of a web community has the purpose of integrating the pre and post consumption phases within the project, helping users to understand the city’s characteristics, the monuments, and of course the experiences of other users, both in the game plying and in the city sightseeing.

eTreasure will provides small social network where to share pictures, comments and trip diaries with other tourists. Feedbacks have pushed the design team to move from an application that allows some people to create eTreasures, and some others to play them, up to becoming a community where people can both create and play eTreasures, comment, rank and review them.

In order to promote learning, the following hypotheses need to be undertaken:

- Coupling each eTreasure hunt with already available paper based guides for tourists, so that they can read them while playing;

- Offering podcast material on the website, which can be downloaded onto users’ MP3 players and accessed during the game;

- Providing brief textual or audio info via MMS when a player is in a given place;

- Setting guidelines for eTreasure hunts creators (e.g.: a class that studies monuments of its city can encode that knowledge in creating an eTreasure aimed to same-age classes visiting the city).
